At a Glance

Here is an altered box made with some new fabulous products.  I love face silhouette's and this one was perfect for what I had in mind.  Plus I got to get out my flower stash that has been collecting dust.  I used an amazing metal stencil by Dreamweaver to decorate the box.  I love these stencils and they hold up so nicely.   As I was dealing with a black painted background I thought I would turn her into more of a chalkboard figure and used watercolor crayon to add in the shading.  I hope you enjoy!

Song Bird

I think this is one of my favorites from the new release stampendous images.  I love the chubby face of the bird.   I actually stamped and colored it on Kraft paper and I am happy with the results.  I used white colored pencil for the main portion of the bird after I colored it with Copics.  I will be using this image again...and again!

Thanks to a friend pointing me into the direction of some fantastic images, I am now in possession of some amazing digi stamps by AuroraWings.  Her creations are amazing.  Even with all the detail in the images they are quite easy to color.  You can find her on Etsy and give yourself a chance to disappear into mystical bliss.

Coffee With a Friend

This is the last one for the class in March at The Craft Retreat.  I used a halloween mouse that was dressed up in cheese for this one...what you say...you see no cheese?  That is because I wanted his head to be sticking out a hole (like mice do).  I used Stampendous Shared Coffee sign stamp to achieve this look.  I love how it turned out!  See you in class for those that can make it (its almost sold out BTW)...and for those that can only dream....I hope I have inspired you maybe just a little bit.

Looking Into the Background

I found this one sitting under a pile of paper...poor thing.  I used one of the NEW background images from makeIt Crafty and added an alice (in non-traditional colors).  I did a little sky airbrushing for a soft sky as I wanted alice to stand out.  I hope you enjoy....I know I did!

Jumpin' For a Healthy Heart - Fundraiser

I am a guest for a very special fundraiser.  Barbara's (with LittleMissMuffet stamps) daughters, Cassandra and Lydia, are participating in a "Jump Rope for Heart" activity at their school where kids learn jump rope skills and raise money for the American Heart Association.

Learning about a healthy heart at school really hit home for her girls, especially when it came with a connection to a few close family members.  For example, their cousin Ryker had open heart surgery when he was only 6-months-old!  He is now a teen and doing great!  He loves many activities including photography and was the inspiration for a new image Barbara has drawn for today... meet Polka Dot Pals Ryker.

This image is available in the Little Miss Muffet Stamp store but the best part about him is you can also help Barbara's daughters in their fundraiser!  How, you might ask?  There are two ways!  First, for every PDP Ryker purchase, LMMS will donate $2.00 to Cassandra and Lydia's fundraiser!  Secondly, you can also donate directly on the American Heart Association website to their individual fundraiser page by visiting these links:  Casssndar's Donation Page and Lydia's Donation Page.

But wait, there's more!  That's not the only image you'll get in the package - there are two other very special images.  Those two were drawn and colored by Cassandra and Lydia themselves!  They've entered their artwork into the T-shirt Design Contest for next year's Jump Rope for Heart.  Maybe they'll win, maybe they won't, but the fun was in creating and now you can create with them too!  Both colored and uncolored versions are included.

Thank you for being a part of this fundraiser and we hope you can take action to have a healthy heart even if it isn't via jump rope.  Spread the word and share your creations online in the current LMMS Challenge and/or in the FaceBook LMMS Group too!

Here is my creation using both the girls image combined with Barbs cutie.  I love how it turned out and am proud to be apart of this fundraiser.    Fundraisers like this touch so many peoples "hearts" and I hope you too can get some satisfaction out of being a part of it too!

Amazing Creations with ETI Resin

When it is "time" to step out of the box...now would be the moment.  Carmi with ETI resin asked 100 people to create a watch using EnviroteX Resin, and I jumped at the chance.  All the resin time pieces were taken to CHA for a display.
Because I was working 3 different resin pieces at once I had to have a lot of different resin pours as well as lots of resin curing time.  The three separate pieces were 1) butterflies, 2) canvas and frame, and 3) the watch piece.
 1) I stamped using Stampendous SSC1177 butterfly charms onto white cardstock and colored the butterflies with Copics on both sides.  If you saturate the paper with alcohol ink it seals it and keeps it from changing colors once the resin is poured.  Next I placed the butterflies on wax paper and brushed on the resin (if i forget to mention again...at some point after it is cures (12 hours later) I will flip them over and do the back side as well)...set aside.
2) canvas time....Stamping an image on the canvas and then coloring it was the easy part.  I used Mod Podge to seal the canvas within the frame and let dry completely.  Once dry I glues a piece of thin strip of acetate to the sky portion for my "floating butterfly", added some Stampendous glass glitter and gears and then I began my first resin pour.  Set aside

3) A small piece of cardstock was stamped and colored for the watch.  I sealed it using Mod Podge and glued it using Mod Podge with the bezel.  then i started adding the gears and did my first pour of resin...leaving room for a second pour later

Now it gets interesting...everything had a first layer and is now dry...what next?

1.  add some butterflies to frame and resin portion of canvas...add gears glass and microbeads and pour resin. set aside
2.  add gears and stuff to watch and pour resin...until domed....very very very carefully set aside

once all resin has cured...

1.  Add more butterflies, glass glitter, microbeads and remaining butterflies....and watch piece
2.  Do final pour of resin...set aside.  don't forget to leave one or two butterflies to add to the "floating butterfly spot and the frame.

I think thats it...yes, this took me days and days waiting for things to cure, but that was just fine with me...cause time flies when your having fun!!

You Blow Me Away

How could I resist this new released House-Mouse Designs® from Stampendous.  How cute can you get!?  I actually decided to use this image in the march class at The Craft Retreat.  The combination of the paper with the HM images just made me go...Mmmmm, or should I say yum yum yum yum!  I am also going to add this to the House-Mouse challenge because it fits just perfect.
Not only did I use an image I have never used before...I used some pinks I thought I would never touch in my lifetime...they are just THAT pink.  But so was the paper, so I am a happy camper (and if I squint real hard the pink goes away...NOT!
